An issue has been identified in ArcGIS Pro 3.5 wherein Calculate Field does not honor the active selection or layer filters (for example, definition query, time filter, range filter, or spatial filter) when using a SQL expression on file geodatabase data, resulting in all rows being calculated. As this issue has the potential to cause data corruption, we are reaching out to let you know that it was treated with urgency and is fixed in ArcGIS Pro 3.5 Patch 1 (3.5.1) scheduled to be available June 3, 2025.

Please share this important information with your organization’s ArcGIS Pro users. If you are not using ArcGIS Pro 3.5, you will not be affected. If you have installed ArcGIS Pro 3.5, ensure that you immediately apply Patch 1 (3.5.1).

To avoid this issue and prevent data corruption, we recommend the following:

  *   Do not use SQL as the expression type until you have applied ArcGIS Pro 3.5 Patch 1 (3.5.1). Instead, use Python, ArcGIS Arcade, or VBScript as the expression type.
  *   Preserve original values. Make a copy of the input table as a backup before performing any calculations, or use the Enable Undo option in the Geoprocessing pane to undo any unintended changes.
  *   Do not publish web tools from ArcGIS Pro 3.5 to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 that include Calculate Field using SQL as the expression type.
