I am working with ESRI to develop a UW-Wide policy that would automatically update the licensing for ArcGIS Pro across campus. ESRI has never made this easy and there seems to be some confusion on their end so don't hold your breath, but I am hopeful.

Regarding the switch from old ArcGIS to ArcGIS Pro...
I'm teaching the GIS class for public health students this Autumn (ENVH 465/565). All my exercises were in ArcGIS Desktop. It's OK for me to make new exercises in ArcGIS Pro. I spent last weekend re-making the first exercise in ArcGIS Pro. Only 6 more to go.
The more unfortunate issue is the computer lab. The lab for my class was moved from Health Sciences Library (they're under construction) to Mary Gates Hall 44. I think they had ArcGIS Pro working there, and then in the beginning of the Summer, I asked them to install ArcGIS Desktop. I tested the lab last week, and of course, neither ArcGIS Pro or Desktop were working in the lab. I'm working with UWIT to solve the licensing issue for Pro in that room.
All of you who are teaching this quarter, I strongly encourage to test out the computers in your classroom.
BTW, I'm recommending students use CSDE remote terminal servers outside of lab, as they seem to have ArcGIS Pro figured out. I'm also suggesting students look into working at the Suzzallo Library 's GIS Lab - my guess is that they have ArcGIS Pro working on their computers.
Best,
Edmund
