*Greetings from the Online CyberGIS & Geospatial Data Science Programs at
Illinois!*

*CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science* is a diverse field that can lead to
many different career paths.  Here at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign we have launched new distance learning opportunities for
students to meet the growing demand in both the private and public sectors
for highly valuable skills.  Our programs will provide students with the
advanced knowledge and critical skills needed to lead in the field and it’s
customized for working professionals.  A student may complete the full
master's degree in less than two years without interrupting their career or
personal obligations, or they may have flexibility to spread out the
courses over a longer period of time as needed.

The *M.S. in CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science* is designed to meet the
high demand for advanced expertise in areas such as geospatial artificial
intelligence, geospatial visualization and visual analytics, data-intensive
geospatial computation, geospatial big data processing and analysis in
Python and R, as well as fundamentals and principles of cyber-based
geographic information science and systems (cyberGIS).

The* CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science graduate-level certificate *is a
12-credit program allowing a student to gain more advanced skills in the
growing field as well as obtain micro-credentials that can be added to a
resume and social media applications.  It also provides an ideal bridge
into the 32-credit hour online master’s degree should students desire to
continue on for an advanced graduate degree.

Employment options for the CyberGIS & Geospatial Data Science certificate
and master’s degree graduates are numerous.  Depending on your area of
interest, graduates can choose rewarding careers in government, industry,
non-profit organizations, and educational services.  Geography & GIS
graduates have successful careers in the public and private sectors,
working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Environmental Protection
Agency, and Geological Survey, and at companies such as American Airlines,
Esri, Google, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, The Climate Corporation, and many
others.
