I cannot imagine the experienced-candidate pool for the Conservation Lead – Central and Eastern Washington <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.governmentjobs.com%2Fcareers%2Fwashington%2Fjobs%2F3525157%2Fconservation-lead-preservation-and-museum-specialist-4-central-and-eastern-wa&data=05%7C01%7CJanae.Huber%40arts.wa.gov%7Cae17e2f7e96b456488e708da2711ca21%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C637865254608277346%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=OH6xN%2BxMKdei8sIcvooYrGwClELMcHp%2BDhPrdvH3k1o%3D&reserved=0> is very large. Good grief. How many artists and conservators do you know operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, boom lifts, and gantries, and drive larger cargo/utility vans and trucks… and who are proficient at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Photoshop, Sketchup or other 3D modeling software…read and understand structural engineering documents. Confer with engineers on a regular basis…. And then will want to spend half their time driving around the expanses of Central and Eastern Warshington, using their own car…for low-paid, at-will employment. AND, are an “independent, self-starter with strong attention to details and have the ability to lead our team to handle overlapping projects and meet deadlines.”
Jeebus. What idiocy. I hope no one applies. But they’ll probably get a thousand applicants.
