Well, both in Alpine and Thunderbird your mail line wraps at the end of 
the display, ie, 180 chars. It is not hard wrap, but soft. This is the way 
I prefer email, actually.

When replying, both TB and Pine wraps the quoted part at a much smaller 
size.
